The works of Jain writers Adikavi Pampa, Sri Ponna and Ranna, collectively called the "three gems of Kannada literature", heralded the age of classical Kannada in the 10th century. The Kannada Wikipedia (Kannada: ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಶ್ವಕೋಶವು) is the Kannada-language edition of Wikipedia.Started in June 2003, it is moderately active and as of June 2020, it has 26,210 articles with 132 active users. The Kannada script is the writing system used in Kannada literature. Also, it is the twelfth-most popular Wikipedia in the Indian subcontinent. Pampa, who wrote Adipurana in 941, is regarded as one of the greatest Kannada writers.
